# Copyright Policy (DMCA Starter)

Mashups respects intellectual property rights and responds to copyright notices under the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act ("DMCA").
## 1. Filing a Copyright Notice
If you believe content on Mashups infringes your copyright, send a notice containing:
1. Your physical or electronic signature.
2. Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed.
3. Identification of the allegedly infringing material and enough information for us to locate it (URL or content ID).
4. Your contact information (name, address, phone, and email).
5. A statement of good-faith belief that use is unauthorized.
6. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and you are authorized to act for the rightsholder.

## 3. What Happens After Notice
1. We review notices for completeness.
2. We may remove or disable access to the identified content.
3. We notify the uploader and may apply account-level enforcement under our repeat infringer policy.
## 4. Counter-Notice
If your content was removed by mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notice containing:
1. Your physical or electronic signature.
2. Identification of removed material and where it appeared before removal.
3. A statement under penalty of perjury that removal was a mistake or misidentification.
4. Your name, address, phone number, and email.
5. A statement consenting to jurisdiction of the Federal District Court for your district (or where Mashups is located if outside the U.S.) and that you will accept service from the original complainant.
## 5. Repeat Infringers
Mashups may terminate accounts of repeat infringers in appropriate circumstances. See `legal/REPEAT_INFRINGER_POLICY.md`.
## 6. Rights Metadata and Verification
Mashups may require rights declarations and supporting license evidence before content can be published or monetized.
## 7. False Statements
Submitting knowingly false notices or counter-notices may result in legal liability.
